It all started between 9:30 and 10:30 during recess, a false alarm created a general panic within this establishment, leading to the belief that a student had been abducted by a kidnapper when it was actually just a rumor.

Indeed, while the headmaster of Domayo II public school, Mr. Alphonse Mahamat, was having a meeting with his teachers, students Boubakary Oumarou, Felyang Kossi Bara, and Oumarou Hamadou, all in preparatory class, used a hole in the school fence where rainwater flows to find themselves outside the barrier.

Under the threats of a passerby, one of them rejoined the schoolyard through the same passage while the other two, afraid of being reprimanded by the passerby, chose to calmly return home.

The third student who returned to the school premises then raised the alarm that the two students had been kidnapped, tied up, and put in a bag by a stranger on a tricycle. 5 minutes later, there was general panic within the school grounds, and the wild rumor spread immediately.

Parents who had come by motorbike or car, struck by fear, sought to retrieve their child immediately to prevent them from suffering the same fate.

This false alarm led to the presence of the sub-prefect of Maroua 1st, Denis Athikalaï, accompanied by law enforcement forces, the educational community, and administrative authorities descending on the scene.

After gathering information from the students and confronting it with that of the concerned parents, everything returned to normal. The three children and their parents returned to the school to reassure the parents, as directed by the sub-prefect of Maroua 1st!
