The first vice-president of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon calls on the population of the Grand North to join the movement to support Maurice Kamto’s candidacy in 2025.

Mamadou Mota reaffirms his commitment to the MRC. The party’s first vice-president launches “Sahel-APC-MK 2025”, a section of the Political Alliance for Change, bringing together the regions of the North, Far North, and Adamaoua. He calls on the population of these three regions to support the political alliance that has chosen Maurice Kamto as the opposition candidate for the presidential election scheduled for 2025. And the reasons are manifold.

In this regard, he presents his mentor, Maurice Kamto, as a man with “great ideas and great projects for our country, (…) a man of convictions, with established moral competence, a hardworking humanitarian, who loves his compatriots, all his compatriots.” The first vice president of the MRC also recalls that he is from the North and has been working with the president of the MRC for 10 years.

For him, Maurice Kamto’s love for the populations of Adamaoua, the North, and the Far North goes beyond that of some of the sons and daughters of these regions. “Professor Maurice Kamto has many social works in the North that demonstrate the interest he has in the well-being of our populations,” he says.

Mamadou Mota thus calls on members of civil society, intellectuals, elites, religious and traditional authorities, students, women, youth, and parents to “work from now on, in an organized and committed manner, to elect Maurice Kamto as President of the Republic of Cameroon in 2025 or sooner.

The MRC framework makes this call at a time when influential figures from the Grand North are urging him to run for president in 2025. Some have invited him to leave the MRC to join certain movements that are gaining momentum in the North, which are working towards overthrowing the Biya regime. Others wish that Maurice Kamto would step down as the MRC’s candidate in the next election and pass the baton to Mamadou Mota, who is younger. The latter’s statement serves as a clarification.
