The enthronement of the new chief, S.M Ngo Pohla Émilienne, took place on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in the Massock district, in the Sanaga Maritime department, in the Littoral region.

Ngo Pohla Émilienne was enthroned as a traditional chief in the presence of administrative, traditional, and religious authorities from the Sanaga Maritime department. She thus becomes the first woman to access this position of responsibility in this locality. The ceremony was presided over by the sub-prefect of the Massock district, accompanied by a strong delegation.

“The solemn nature of the ceremony is illustrative in more ways than one. It is the first time in the Logkat canton that a gender approach is adopted, an approach that the public authorities continue to promote. She is the very first woman to hold this position in the Logkat canton. It was therefore important that no one be unaware of her enthronement, both administratively and traditionally,” insisted the sub-prefect of Massock.

For the elected chief of the day, this enthronement is a mark of recognition to the head of state who continues to promote the gender approach in all areas of administration. Poha Émilienne also thanked the dignitaries of the Logkat canton in general and the Issondje chieftaincy, who played a major role in her enthronement.

“It is a feeling of gratitude, a big thank you to my people. But above all, I would like to thank the President of the Republic, who does everything he can to promote the gender approach in the entire Cameroonian administration. It is therefore an honor, but also a great responsibility. I ask my people for peace, because all real development goes through peace,” declared Her Majesty, Ngo Pohla Émilienne.

Mother of three children, the new traditional chief of Issondje holds a master’s degree in project management and is currently serving at the School of Health Sciences of the Catholic University of Central Africa.
