The coastal city of Limbe in the South West Region is bustling with activity as athletes and officials put the finishing touches on preparations for the highly anticipated FENASSCO League A games for secondary schools.

Known as the “Town of Friendship,” Limbe is ready to welcome thousands of visitors from all over Cameroon for this prestigious sporting event set to begin tomorrow, April 3. Today, April 2, marks the eve of the grand launch, and the excitement among residents and participants is palpable.

The 24th edition of the FENASSCO A games is being held under the theme, “School games, a guarantee of peace and sustainable development.” Preparations are in full swing with significant infrastructure being put in place to ensure a smooth and successful organization of the event, which will conclude on April 9.

The games will feature 12 different sporting disciplines, including football, handball, volleyball, basketball, and more. Prior to the main event, today will see the competition of the Minister’s Cup, where teachers will demonstrate their athletic skills under the supervision of the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, who is already in town and overseeing security at the event venue.

Students at Government High School Limbe, one of the designated venues for the games, are busy with final rehearsals to fine-tune their performances for tomorrow’s opening ceremony. All participants, from secondary to high school students and those from teacher-training colleges, are diligently preparing to impress spectators with their skill and athleticism.

Security measures have been heightened around the event venues to ensure the safety of all attendees. The organizational committee announced that 2,170 athletes will participate in the 12 sports disciplines.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium, with matches between the South West and North West regions in girls’ football, as well as the West and East regions in the same discipline.
