“Céline Magnéché’s “Les combattants” sheds light on the struggles of women who suffer in silence and presents a world of solidarity where women and men facilitate female empowerment.
The book titled “Les combattants” is a creation of Céline Magnéché. It draws inspiration from great literature and goes beyond mere classical literature. Presented on March 21, 2024 at the IFC in Yaoundé, this novel reflects the author’s personal struggle for the empowerment of women who live in silence.
The book depicts the fight of these women against an oppressive and outdated social system. In the book, she emphasizes, “We live in a world that has become a global village. We cannot stay confined in our kitchens hoping that the world will wait for us. It is essential to open up, to flourish, to become individuals useful to all of humanity.”
The 369-page book is divided into 12 chapters. Through the character of Tiako, the Cameroonian novelist illustrates a woman forced to hide her emotions.”
