The Minister of Public Works visited the construction site of the headquarters of MINTP on April 3, 2024.

Ten years after the start of the construction of the Mintp headquarters, the delivery is scheduled for this year 2024. According to the ministerial department, the complex under construction in the new administrative center of Yaoundé is already unveiling its architecture and is expected to be delivered in 2024.

The Ministry of Nganou Djoumessi emphasizes that the earthworks, structural work, waterproofing, plumbing, air conditioning, kitchen equipment, elevators, roadworks, facade cladding, aluminum, metal and glass joinery, hard and soft coverings, wooden joinery and false ceiling are currently progressing at rates ranging from 82 to 100%.

“The services related to electrical installations are 53.87% complete and according to forecasts, the works related to the electrical lot will be completed between August and September 2024. The least advanced services are those of fire doors with a progress of 33.26% and painting, with an execution level of 72.90%.”

Furthermore, the overall progress of the works stands at 79.65% at the beginning of March 2024, with a material supply rate of 87.21%. During his visit, the Minister of Public Works focused on the development of certain premises, especially those intended to house the archive services.

Delays are mostly due to the failure of some subcontractors and local companies to fulfill their commitments, either by delaying their services, failing to deliver equipment, or disappearing with received funds.

“The Minister of Public Works deplored the attitude of these Cameroonian companies such as SOCACAM and Alternance and instructed necessary actions to be taken so that legal actions are carried out, while praising the local companies that work satisfactorily on the site.”
