The National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS) of Cameroon is partnering with the French embassy in this initiative.
Professor Dora Mbanya, Director General of the National Blood Transfusion Center, organized a workshop to train regional and central CNTS officials on the use of blood data collection tool.
The three-day meeting will allow participants to acquire knowledge provided by consultants in order to map out blood collection centers and civil society organizations (CSOs) involved in blood donation activities in Cameroon.
The main objective of this initiative is to identify associations and civil society organizations (CSOs) involved in blood transfusion and blood donation promotion throughout Cameroon.
This software is widely used by professionals for reliable and professional field data collection. CNTS teams will go out to verify the effectiveness of the 358 civil society organizations involved in various sectors, while also identifying potential blood donors across the country.
A detailed work plan has been developed to gather all information in the field by CNTS agents trained during this workshop. The collected data will be stored on the KoboCollect platform before being transferred to the CNTS for analysis and future use.
It is worth noting that the overall goal of the CNTS is to collect 400,000 bags of blood per year.
