Security officials in Yaounde have confirmed that the son of journalist Louisette Ngo Yebel is responsible for her tragic death. Louisette’s son, Batek Yebel Landry, allegedly committed the heinous act with two other individuals in the Etoa-Meki neighborhood in Yaoundé.

Landry has been taken into custody, but his alleged accomplices are still at large. Reports from Canal 2 International on Tuesday night revealed that these accomplices are involved in drug dealing.

According to the report, Louisette was not only killed but also dismembered and her remains were found in two suitcases. Security officials discovered the suitcases hidden during a search of the victim’s last known location. Louisette was formerly the head of communication at the Commission for Central African Forests, COMIFAC, before her tragic murder.

The Investigation and Documentation Department of the judicial police in Yaoundé is currently interrogating Landry while investigations into the case continue. The motive behind Landry’s actions remains unclear, as he had recently graduated from Enam as an administrative secretary.

The shocking incident has left the residents of Etoa-Meki district in disbelief. This story is currently under investigation by MMI, especially considering the concerning trend of journalists being targeted for violence in Cameroon. Over the past three years, at least four journalists have been killed by either the government or separatists in the English-speaking regions.

The tragic death of Louisette Ngo Yebel at the hands of her own son has sent shockwaves through the community. The details of the crime, including the involvement of drug dealers and the gruesome nature of the murder, have unsettled many in Yaoundé.

As the investigation into this heartbreaking case continues, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding the motive behind the murder and the identity of the accomplices who are still at large. The brutal killing of a respected journalist like Louisette Ngo Yebel serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by journalists in Cameroon, and the need for greater protection and justice in the face of such senseless violence.
