The senior Reporter of the group l’Anecdote has just published a text on social media where he announces that he is leaving things before things leave him.
Yet another new defection within the l’Anecdote group. Just a few minutes ago, journalist Raoul Christophe Bia announced that he is leaving the Tour de Nsam. “I am writing this text to inform you that I have learned of my exclusion from Vision 4. My last day of work surprised me on social media where some were informed except me, the concerned party. I would like to express my deep gratitude for the support, trust, and collaboration you have given me during these years at this television channel. I have learned and grown a lot thanks to you, and I will keep excellent memories of our exchanges, our projects, and our common successes. I wish you all the best for the future, and I remain available to ensure an effective and harmonious transition. Without an official denial of this rumor, I prefer to leave things before they leave me. Thank you again for everything, and goodbye,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
This announcement follows a series of announcements made on social media that the journalist was fired while he was in Côte d’Ivoire. But within the corporation, it is difficult to believe in a resignation. “He did not resign. He was informed that he would be fired and he anticipated it,” said a journalist who requested anonymity.
“I don’t believe a single word, as the reasoning is not logical at all. I don’t know the internal workings of V4, but in my opinion, this story is not logical,” said another journalist.
The l’Anecdote group has always been characterized by whimsical movements of the staff. But since the arrest of Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga, the boss of Vision 4 in February 2023, professional instability seems to have taken up residence within his group. In recent days, Bruno Bidjang, the head of the media in this group, was first arrested before his company disassociated from him a few hours later.
Norbert Olivier Ebode, the editor-in-chief, was then sidelined from the Tour de Nsam and also lost his position as editor-in-chief. The reasons for his exclusion were not known, but there are suspicions that he had supported Bruno Bidjang.
The graduate of Esstic with a specialization in editing and graphic arts had spent a few years heading the editing department in the same channel before being appointed editor-in-chief in May 2022. He replaced Martial Owona, who had been promoted to director of the Vision 4 editorial team.
In recent months, many journalists have left the channel, while others have been sidelined. Including: Hyppolite Nama, Serge Belinga, Flora Mbarga, Gaelle Djakam, and Princess Jessy. Also, four months after their appointment, Inès Belinga, the deputy director of Information, and Christine Toulou Ndzana, the spokesperson for Amougou Belinga, had been placed on technical unemployment. The latter has returned in recent days.
