The list was issued by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. In addition to the state-owned operator Campost, only 42 private operators have paid their entrance fees and are authorized to carry out postal transactions in Cameroon. These operators include Dhl international, M.T.A, SMS, Touristique Express, Sud Dépêche, Esico, Kingsley international, A.P.M, Express Exchange, Emi money, Tresor voyages, Princesses voyages, Overline, General Express, UPS, CDV sarl, Avenir voyage, Solex, Garanti Express, Globex Cameroun, Flexi logistics, Finexs.cam, Binam voyages, Buca voyages, Moghamo Express, City messenger, Satit (Nde Airlines), Vatican voyages, Afrilight, Galaxie express, Danay express, Socotranscam, Amour Mezam, J F International, Musango voyages, Avenir de la Kadey, Sapagav Sarl, Global voyages, Menoua voyages, Cerises Auto, Mvila voyages, and Africa Global Logistics.
According to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, any postal transaction carried out with operators other than those mentioned above is contrary to the law and may be subject to sanctions in accordance with current regulations. In 2022, Minister Minette Libom LI Likeng urged postal operators to embrace digitalization for improved efficiency. Specifically, she emphasized the importance of understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the Cameroonian postal environment and the digital opportunities and challenges in the messaging sector.
Data shows that Internet penetration in Cameroon was at 45.6% in 2023, while mobile telephony penetration reached 84.6%. Additionally, 90% of executives are aware of digital transformation, 80% of structures have a website, and 1653 fake accounts were detected in 2023, with 793 being closed. Furthermore, 232 digital evidence authentication cases were processed in 2023, with enhanced security measures implemented in the messaging segment, particularly at Campost, the Cameroon Postal Services.
The minister aims to improve these figures to make the postal sector more competitive and achieve better performance.
