The publisher of the newspaper Le Jour has dipped his pen into the ink of his career since leaving Essti (now Esstic) to write a book entitled “I love the smell of ink on paper in the early morning.”

“I had promised myself to do it, and I did it. I recount my years in journalism in these pages where I have left a part of myself. I owed it to this profession,” announced Haman Mana with these words, about the release of his new book: “I love the smell of ink on paper in the early morning.”

In this book, he looks back on his early days in the profession, when he worked in the editorial office of the national newspaper Cameroon Tribune. He then resigned to join Pius Njawé’s Le Messager, before being contacted by Protais Ayangma to create the daily newspaper Mutations. It is there that he became more known, while gaining even more fame for his numerous interrogations, notably in the case of the decrees where the journalist was ordered to reveal his sources.

This experience still serves as a lesson to the younger generation in terms of protecting information sources. Despite the pressures, Haman Mana never revealed the source of the presidential decrees appointing him in the army. The anecdotes mentioned in the book are equally striking, one after the other. The Essti graduate takes us on a true flashback of his career.

Haman Mana was the publisher of the daily newspaper Mutations for 11 years, but the adventure ended badly. After his departure, he started his own business. As an entrepreneur in the media world, he founded the daily newspaper Le Jour in 2007. In 2008, he launched the publishing house Les Éditions du Schabel. His successful career led to his appointment as president of the Federation of Press Publishers of Cameroon.
