The announcement was made by the Cameroonian Customs.
The elements of the Commercial Brigade of Customs in Idenau seized 135 bags containing 72 bottles each, totaling 9,720 bottles of beverages of the brand “Reaktor Nigeria,” announced the Customs. The loot came from Nigeria aboard a small craft.
“Despite the confusion on the quay of the Port of Idenau which did not allow the owners of these packages to be identified, the vigilance of the customs officers nevertheless thwarted a fraud detrimental to the interests of the Customs Administration and those of the partner Sources Du Pays,” the Customs stated.
“The Cameroonian products of the partner are thus not subject to the effects of unfair competition. This is also the expression of the partnership, consecrated as a central theme for the year 2024 by the World Customs Organization. Customs surveillance remains active at the borders and within the national territory,” added the administration.
Fight against fraud
In order to combat fraud, the latest news from Customs dates back to January 2024. On that date, the General Directorate of Customs (DGD) and the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) signed an agreement of collaboration in Yaoundé aimed at jointly combating money laundering, financing terrorism and proliferation, as well as combating customs fraud.
