Nestor Nenwosela tendered his resignation to the national president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon on March 8th. Some party militants claim that he may have had promises from the Yaoundé regime.
The Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon is losing an active member who has been part of the party’s leadership in recent years. Nestor Nenwosela is stepping down from the renaissance movement led by Maurice Kamto. In his letter addressed to the latter, the now former militant decides to resign from the party because “I no longer find myself in the ideology that guided me from the beginning,” said the former president of the youth of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon. Regarding the reasons for his resignation, the former MRC militant makes a clarification to preempt any controversies. “I have not been contacted by anyone in any way. The reasons for my resignation are strictly personal.”
However, the reactions of his former party comrades try to show that the young man had resigned long ago. These reactions also attempt to determine the exact reason for his departure. According to Mamadou Mota, Nestor Nenwosela had already resigned. “You have been in Zouvoule for 5 years. What have you done for the MRC in the Far North? On the contrary, you are chasing teachers who are sympathetic to the MRC,” the party’s vice-president believes that the resignation is linked to Nestor Nenwosela’s career progression as a mathematics teacher and a doctoral student. He is reportedly awaiting appointment as a departmental delegate for secondary education.
Other reactions from militants support the idea that this resignation has been noted for a few years. It may have also led to his removal as head of the MRC youth. He was replaced by Nafissa Thamar during the convention last December, which he did not attend. His resignation is said to be the result of disciplinary action and suspension of his salary due to his political beliefs.
However, in his resignation letter, the young politician expresses his desire to remain faithful to his values: “To see Cameroonians reconciled, speaking and working together towards the construction of a new citizenship.” Having joined the MRC in 2013, he was elected president of the youth in 2018. Nestor Nenwosela does not provide any specific details about his political future.
