The traffic accident occurred on Friday, March 29, 2024, on the road connecting the cities of Yaoundé and Bafoussam. There was blood on the road at the beginning of the Easter weekend. An intercity bus departing from Yaoundé for Bafoussam collided with a Toyota Yaris personal vehicle. The head-on collision occurred around 3 p.m. between Kom Yambeta and Ndikinimeki on National Road No. 4.

According to the prefect of the Mbam and Inoubou department, Garba Bakary, the bus from Yaoundé to Bafoussam made a wrong overtaking maneuver and collided head-on with the Toyota Yaris. The toll stands at five dead, all occupants of the Toyota Yaris. Most of the bus occupants were evacuated to the Ndikinimeki hospital.

Pending the results of the investigations, the initial causes of this fatal accident were reported to be speeding and dangerous overtaking.
