A delegation from FIFA, led by former Ghanaian international Anthony Bafoe, specialist in High Performance (HPS) at the International Federation of Association Football, accompanied by Franciny Samba from the FIFA Regional Office, Etienne Sockeng, regional technical consultant, and Jorge Reiss, FIFA Talent Coach resident in Cameroon, held an important meeting on Tuesday at the headquarters of Fecafoot in Yaoundé.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the federation, Blaise Djounang, National Technical Director Engelbert Mbarga, and their respective colleagues. In addition to fruitful exchanges with Fecafoot officials, including President Samuel Eto’o, this delegation plans to evaluate the FIFA Talent Scheme (TDS) project and visit the federation’s technical center in Yaoundé.
The TDS program aims to select 25 young girls and 25 young boys born between 2010 and 2011 following detections. They will then be fully accommodated at the Fecafoot technical center until 2026. This evaluation by FIFA is of crucial importance for the development of football in Cameroon, offering young talents an exceptional opportunity to train in a conducive environment, under the auspices of FIFA and in partnership with Fecafoot. The visit of the FIFA delegation demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the global football body to promote and develop football talent at an international level.
