The Ministry of Public Works has allocated a total of FCFA 520 million to councils in the Southwest region for road rehabilitation and bridge construction, in an effort to enhance the region’s road infrastructure.
The divisions benefitting from this allocation are Kupe Manenguba, Lebialem, and Fako.
Fako Division Receives FCFA 260 Million
The Tiko, Limbe, and Buea Councils in the Fako Division will share FCFA 260 million. Buea Council received FCFA 65 million to complete the rehabilitation of the road connecting Tole-Bwiyuku village to Wonganga, which will facilitate the transportation of agricultural products to urban areas.
Tiko Council was granted FCFA 130 million to construct a bridge at the Likomba roundabout in phase 1, connecting the Catholic Church to the Likomba market, an area known for accidents.
Limbe City Council received FCFA 65 million for the reconstruction of the road from Chop Farm to Bikolo village.
Lebialem and Kupe Manenguba Allocations
Alou Council in Lebialem received FCFA 65 million for various projects:
– FCFA 20 million for repairing a 2 km road from Letia to Njilap
– FCFA 18 million for bridge construction
– FCFA 18 million for building a bridge in Nwametaw
– FCFA 9 million for constructing a market access road
Kupe Manenguba was allocated FCFA 195 million. Bangem Council will use FCFA 65 million to construct a farm-to-market road, Nguti Council will use FCFA 65 million to maintain the road between Etawang and Banyue, and Tombel Council will utilize FCFA 65 million to open a new farm-to-market road connecting Ngab and Ndumei-Swene.
This investment in road infrastructure is anticipated to enhance transportation, streamline the movement of goods and people, and promote economic activity in the Southwest region.
