The Ministry of Public Works announced on Tuesday that earthworks on the 39 km section of the Kumbo – Ndu road in the North-West region have progressed by 7.58% at the end of March 2024. These works include earthworks, preparation for the commissioning of the crushing plant, as well as the completion of technical studies required by the contract.
Indeed, the company Bun’s Sarl, under the technical supervision of the Groupement Caem/Africa Engineering/Gic Mali, is responsible for carrying out the works on this section. In recent weeks, excavation works have been carried out and stored in several sections, covering a volume of 94,600.49 m3. In addition, embankment works from the excavations have been completed, reaching a volume of 46,290.76 m3.
Regarding the crushing plant, elements have been transported to the rocky quarry of “Njikuh – Jirt,” and preparatory works for its installation are underway. The platform earthworks for installing the crusher and access road are completed, and foundation works for installing the crusher are ongoing. Furthermore, the company has obtained a temporary operating permit for the rocky quarry of “Njikuh – Jirt.”
In parallel, the project has had a direct social impact by training and/or hiring over 300 young locals, demonstrating its commitment to the local community.
This section of the Kumbo – Ndu-Nkambe – Misaje road, under construction in the North-West region, shows encouraging progress in physical works, offering promising prospects for improving road infrastructure in the region.
