The Ministry of Public Works announced on Tuesday that excavation work on the 39 km section of the Kumbo-Ndu road in the Northwest region has progressed by 7.58% by the end of March 2024. These works include earthwork, preparation for the commissioning of the crushing plant, and the completion of the technical studies required by the contract.

Indeed, the company BUN’S SARL, under the technical supervision of the Group CAEM/AFRICA ENGINEERING/GIC MALI, is responsible for carrying out the works on this section. In recent weeks, excavation work has been carried out and materials have been stockpiled on several sections, totaling a volume of 94,600.49 m3. In addition, backfilling work from the excavations has been undertaken, reaching a volume of 46,290.76 m3.

Regarding the crushing plant, elements have been transported to the rock quarry of “NJIKUH – JIRT”, and preparatory work for its installation is ongoing. The earthworks for the platform for the installation of the crusher and access road are completed, and foundation work for the installation of the crusher is ongoing. Furthermore, the company has obtained a temporary operating permit for the rock quarry of “NJIKUH – JIRT”.

At the same time, the project has had a direct social impact by training and/or hiring over 300 young people from the local community, demonstrating its commitment to the local community.

This section of the Kumbo-Ndu-Nkambe-Misaje road, under construction in the Northwest region, shows encouraging physical progress of the works, offering promising prospects for the improvement of road infrastructure in the region.
