The communication surrounding road construction sites has never been so intense. Last week, the Ministry of Public Works communicated on the progress of Phase 2 of the Eastern entrance to the city of Douala. With a progress rate of over 1%, the same ministry is still giving updates.
Thus, as of April 2, 2024, in general, there has been a slight progression over the past seven days regarding all the works. “Road construction works continue and earthworks for the construction of the interchanges at Yassa and Japoma have begun,” highlights the ministry led by Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.
The physical progress by task shows, in terms of road works, that the foundation layer in direction 1 is completed over 7.040 km and in direction 2 over 1.630 km. The base layer already implemented extends over 7.860 km in direction 1 and 7.410 km in direction 2.
Moreover, in terms of the gravel bitumen base layer, the test bench results are awaited for the continuation of its implementation. It is also noted that the installed gutters for drainage cover a linear distance of 8.620 km. The physical progress of the works is estimated at 51.5% as of April 2, 2024.
As of March 25, 2024, the physical progress of the works was at 50.5% with a delay consumption of 72.6%. The progress by task indicated that land clearing, cleaning in both directions, and embankments in direction 1 were fully completed.
