As of March 25, 2024, the physical progress of the work stands at 50.5% with a time consumption of 72.6%. The progress by task indicates that the clearing of the right of way, cleaning in both directions, and embankments in direction 1, have been fully completed.
The Ministry of Public Works highlights that the installation of gutters in direction 1 has been completed for a length of 8620 meters, and in direction 2 for a length of 7600 meters (82%). As for the subgrade layer, the completed length in direction 1 covers 7630 meters (82%) and 7440 meters in direction 2. The foundation layer completed in direction 1 is evaluated at 6980 meters, and in direction 2 at 1460 meters. The company has also started the implementation of the base layer, and the length covered by March 25, 2024 is 210 meters. In addition, the commencement of the construction works for the Japoma and Yassa structures has been strongly recommended by the Client.
The ongoing services on the route concerned by the development works of the East Entrance of the city of Douala, phase 2, involve earthworks at the sites where interchanges will be built, in Japoma and Yassa.
Among other objectives, the project aims to facilitate access to the city of Douala, make the movement of people and goods easier, and improve access to the Japoma stadium and other nearby socio-economic facilities.
