The ordination mass of the priesthood was celebrated this Friday at the Place des Fêtes in Obala, a few dozen kilometers from Yaoundé.
The Christian community of the Archdiocese of Yaoundé in general and the diocese of Obala in particular has 12 new priests. Like the 12 apostles of Christ, they received the anointing on April 5 to exercise the pastoral ministry. Their ordination took place during a ceremony presided over by His Eminence Robert Cardinal Sarah, the number 3 of the Vatican. He has been staying in the diocese of Obala since April 2. He laid hands on these new pastors of the Catholic Church who are beginning their evangelical mission.
In his speech, the cardinal addressed an exhortation to the new called ones of God. It is to stand before God regularly. He also invites them to learn to pray without ceasing like the Lord Jesus Christ.
On April 4, the eve of the ordination, His Eminence Robert Cardinal Sarah met with the laity of the diocese at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Obala. It was an opportunity for the prelate to commune with men, women, members of parish councils and brotherhoods, elites, as well as with simple Christians from the diocese of Obala, where Bishop Mgr. Sosthène Léopold Bayemi Matjei serves. On April 3, the cardinal met with priests and nuns as part of his ongoing visit to Cameroon.
