The trial at the first instance court of Kaélé has been scheduled for May 2, 2024, following the hearing on April 4th.

The case of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (Pcrn) opposing President Cabral Libii to founder Robert Kona continues at the first instance court of Kaélé. On March 4, 2024, the counsels of both parties attended the hearing. According to the lawyer representing Cabral Libii, Robert Kona’s counsel presented the document, “the original of his summons,” which had previously hindered the “effective start” of the trial proceedings. Since January 4th, the court has postponed the case three times: to February 1st, March 7th, and April 4th. The fourth time has been set for May 2nd.

Following this fourth hearing, the jurisdiction has re-scheduled the case for May 2nd. However, before that, both parties have submitted additional documents to their respective files. Robert Kona’s counsel has submitted additional conclusions and a list of exhibits. The opposing party, on the other hand, has filed conclusions and other documents. Robert Kona’s replies are expected on May 2nd. He has requested the judicial annulment of the Guidiguis Congress on May 11, 2019, which brought Cabral Libii to the leadership of Pcrn.

As the trial progresses progressively at the court, the two leaders of the political party, the founder, and the president, are at odds. Each has excluded the other from the party. The public is awaiting the reaction of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, following Robert Kona’s notification of the exclusion of Cabral Libii and 23 other members of the party. After Robert Kona’s exclusion, the government member refused to acknowledge the decision due to lack of validity and violation of the party’s rules.
