Journalists in Buea, operating under the umbrella of Cameroon English-speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ), have decided to set aside their differences and focus on strengthening the association. On April 6th, the National Bureau of CAMASEJ led a mobilization and reconciliation effort that successfully brought the members together.

During the meeting, the journalists of the Buea Chapter openly discussed the issues that have been affecting the association since the expiration of the executive’s mandate and the pending elections. Prior to the meeting, there was a dispute among members regarding the leadership of the association, with many attributing it to the absence of a proper executive.

The interim administration of CAMASEJ is currently being led by President Abah Isidore, who is currently abroad. Despite his expired mandate and the call for elections, the National Executive decided to conduct a tour before electing a new executive.

Following the conclusion of the tour on April 6th, the journalists agreed to urgently request the National Exco to proceed with their chapter elections to establish a new executive capable of effectively managing the association’s activities. The National Bureau delegation expressed appreciation to the Buea chapter for reconciling and prioritizing the interests of the association. They also emphasized the importance of members working together in solidarity and synergy.

If the recommendations are implemented promptly, CAMASEJ Buea, as the founding chapter, could soon have a new executive in place. Acting as the interim government are Andrew Nsoseka, the desk editor of The Post Newspaper, and Nkengafact Eucharia.

The unity and reconciliation among the journalists in Buea signify a positive step towards strengthening the association and ensuring its continued success. It is essential for the members to maintain this spirit of cooperation and collaboration to achieve their common goals.
