The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, recently singled out motorbike riders as contributing to the rise in kidnapping incidents in the North Region. He emphasized the need for increased vigilance, frequent controls, and strict adherence to the rule of law during a meeting held at the North Governor’s office on Thursday, February 29.

The Minister also mentioned that the message from the motorbike riders to the President during his birthday has been conveyed, and he urged the Governor to provide feedback to them.

Despite acknowledging the security challenges, the Minister praised the efforts of the security forces in maintaining peace in the region. He called on the public to collaborate with law enforcement to combat theft and kidnapping activities.

In light of the upcoming elections, Atanga Nji stressed the importance of sharing information among all stakeholders to prevent disturbances and counter terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings for ransom.

During the meeting, the Minister commended the cleanliness of Garoua City and expressed his appreciation to the population through Governor Jean Abate Edii.

The gathering, attended by administrative authorities, as well as defense and security forces of the Region, was held in preparation for the inauguration of the Garoua Central Mosque in Poumpoumre. Atanga Nji is representing President Paul Biya at the event scheduled for Friday, March 1.

The construction of the mosque has significantly enhanced the aesthetic appeal of Garoua, signifying a major development in the region. The Muslim community in Garoua warmly welcomed Minister Atanga Nji upon his arrival at the Garoua International Airport.
