Once released, the hostages were received by the governor of Adamaoua, Kildadi Boukar. The administrative authority took the opportunity to salute the bravery of the defense and security forces and all members of the vigilance committee. In passing, the governor of the region did not fail to reiterate the commitment of the state to fight against lawless individuals until the last ounce of energy. He also assured that the protection of property and people remains the major challenge for the populations.

In the rescue operations carried out by elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) in the Adamaoua region, ten people were liberated yesterday from the hands of hostage takers who have been sowing terror in the surrounding villages of Ngoundéré for several months.

The men freed were abducted in the Mbé, Nganha, and Touboro districts, respectively in the Northern region. All of Cameroonian nationality, they had been held in captivity for almost a month in the La Bénoué park. While their families had no news of them, they contacted the defense and security forces who immediately began searching for the hostages.

After some time, the kidnappers, breaking their silence, finally demanded a large ransom for their release. Following security measures coupled with intelligence, a rescue operation was launched on March 7 in the afternoon by the commandos of Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Kounaka, commander of the 5th region of the BIR in Adamaoua, in collaboration with the vigilance committee which, it must be remembered, has control over their different sectors.

The operation resulted in several kidnappers being neutralized, with various materials found in their possession, including weapons of war, ammunition, charms, and other loot.

Apparently, the 10 hostages were weak, but authorities have stated that they are in good health after some checks by health specialists. A great joy for their respective families.
