The tragedy unfolded a few days ago in the Marouané neighborhood in the 2nd district of Garoua. The teenager who fled was arrested a few hours later.

It is an unimaginably tragic story that took place in the North region. In the Marouané neighborhood, in the 2nd district of Garoua, a teenager fatally beat his own mother. The 17-year-old Amina Illiasou beat his mother Mbalidam Rabika to the point where she bled to death. According to our information, the woman died from a head trauma resulting from the blows inflicted by her son.

According to the official OB page cited by our colleagues at Griote, it all started with a demand for accountability made by the deceased to her son Amina Illiasou. “He was accused of using money from a commission for other purposes and did not want his mother to remind him of it,” another source said. “That’s when earlier in the week Illiasou became angry when his mother reminded him that he had used her money to buy drugs. He pounced on her and began beating her until she died.”

After committing the irreparable act, the boy fled before being caught yesterday around midnight by the Terre de Poumpoumré brigade.

This phenomenon of children killing their parents is apparently becoming a trend in Garoua. In February 2024, 16-year-old Yves Keyebba ended his father’s life after hitting him with an axe. After these blows, Jean Missa Balkossa, a security guard by profession, passed away on the spot.

The commander of the Territorial Brigade of Poumpoumré, Saidou Abakachi, reported that a dispute between the father and son caused the tragedy in the Boum Aviation neighborhood, in the 2nd district of the city of Garoua. “Early that day, we were informed by a resident of the Boum Aviation neighborhood that a young boy had just killed his father, and they wanted us to immediately come to the crime scene because there were tensions and other family issues. The child could face mob justice. We immediately organized teams to go to the scene before reporting to our hierarchy and the public prosecutor’s office; We went to the scene. Upon our arrival at the compound, we were greeted by tears on all sides,” reported the gendarme. “We tried to retrieve the child who had taken refuge in the outskirts of the neighborhood. Through professional actions, we retrieved him and took him to our unit. From further investigation, it appears that he acted in collusion with a certain Haya Doe alias Moise who was also a security guard working with his father while he was alive and had altercations with him according to the young Keyebba Yves who killed his father and wants to drag Haya Moise down with him. All were presented to the press and will be brought before the public prosecutor in the coming hours,” concluded Commander Abakachi.
