One of the highlights of Autism Awareness Week organized by the Handicap sans visage association is the initiative led by Flore Hantzer to create a specialized center for autistic children. According to Flore Hantzer, these children have difficulties in socializing and expressing themselves with other kids. She believes that through play, they can find a form of therapy to help them flourish and engage in recreational activities.
The construction project for this center will be presented during the Autism Awareness Week that will take place from April 1st to April 7th, 2024, in Yaoundé.
Throughout this week, a database will be opened to register autistic children in Cameroon. Roundtable discussions will also be held at the National Museum of Yaoundé, bringing together experts and parents of autistic children to share their experiences and discuss recommended strategies for better care. Free consultations and play days are also planned. The event will conclude with a charity gala evening aimed at raising funds for the construction of a specialized center for autistic children.
