Amidst the dispute, the appointment of a new technical staff at the helm of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is causing tension. A decision denounced by the Fecafoot, citing a violation of regulations.

The war between Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, and Narcisse Moelle Kombi, the Minister of Sports, is reaching a boiling point with the recent appointment of a new technical staff for the Indomitable Lions. Following this appointment, it was revealed that “the Cameroonian Football Federation learned, at the same time as all Cameroonians, of the appointments to positions of responsibility within the National Senior Men’s Football Team. Fecafoot expresses its deep surprise at this act, which goes against the terms of Decree No. 2014/384 of September 26, 2014, regarding the organization and functioning of national football selections.”

Fecafoot laments that “this unilateral decision comes at a time when Fecafoot has agreed to carry out the Very High Instructions of the President of the Republic by providing its full cooperation in order to achieve a beneficial appeasement for the future of our beloved Indomitable Lions. Fecafoot intends to shed light on this regrettable situation and will communicate promptly on the response it intends to provide.”

Regarding the decision signed by Narcisse Moelle Kombi, the Minister of Sports, the new technical staff of the Cameroonian national team includes: head coach: Marc Brys (Belgium); Assistant Coach: Omam Biyik; Assistant Coach #2: Ashu Bessong; Goalkeeper Coach: Alioum Boukar; Team Manager: Dany Nounkeu; Physical Trainer: Christophe Manouvrier; Press Team: Germain Noël Essengue; National Selections Coordinator: Benjamin Banlock.

This appointment, which violates regulations as highlighted by Fecafot, will further deteriorate the already strained relationship between Samuel Eto’o and Narcisse Moelle Kombi. Ever since Eto’o’s arrival at Fecafoot, tensions have been high due to the termination of Antonio Conceicao’s contract by Fecafot. Despite efforts by Samuel Eto’o and Moelle Kombi to make amends, peace seems fleeting. Moreover, this war between Fecafoot and the Ministry of Sports will also have a negative impact on the Cameroonian national team, given the appointment of Benjamin Banlock as the coordinator of national selections. Former friend of Samuel Eto’o and former Secretary General of Fecafoot, Benjamin Banlock and Samuel Eto’o are now at odds.
