For several weeks, the national gendarmerie has been fighting relentlessly against wrongdoers of all kinds throughout the country. One of their targets, drug traffickers and dealers, daily come into conflict with the gendarmes who track them to their last strongholds, in order to fight against various psychoactive products that are destroying Cameroonian youth.
It is in this context that on February 6, 2024, the Baham Gendarmerie Company, under the coordination of the Commander of the Gendarmerie Legion of the West, arrested a suspect in possession of counterfeit medicines from a neighboring country intended for the black market in the West of Cameroon. After exploiting the suspect and cross-referencing the information gathered, the Commander of the Baham Gendarmerie Company, Captain Mebouinz Daniel, managed to get hold of the entire stock of 550 kg of fake Tramol in question.
At the decision of the Public Prosecutor, these counterfeit medicines were destroyed. The suspect was arraigned before the court on February 7, 2024.
On the side of Ntui, in the Lekie department, the territorial gendarmerie brigade also carried out a major operation. Under the supervision of the Commander of the Ntui Gendarmerie Company, the Ntui Gendarmerie Brigade conducted a series of targeted operations from February 3 to 7, 2024, resulting in the dismantling of a gang of wrongdoers specializing in motorcycle thefts, burglaries, the sale of Indian hemp, and the illegal possession of firearms.
The operation, which started on February 3 with a raid in the village of Nguila at 8:00 pm, led to the arrest of a 29-year-old individual found in possession of a motorcycle stolen a few days earlier. Through careful exploitation, it led to an ambush on February 4 at 10:00 pm of his accomplice, on the road to the village of Mabonguè (25 km from Ntui), fleeing to Mbandjock with another stolen motorcycle, at a residence in the Bami neighborhood, according to the national gendarmerie’s communication service.
Continuing the operation on February 5 at 6:00 am, three other individuals were arrested in the Bami neighborhood in a room where eight (08) large bags and a plastic containing a large quantity of Indian hemp and suspicious items were discovered and seized. These included a 17-inch Samsung plasma TV and a 42-inch ITEL TV; 3 speakers and 1 woofer; and a white toilet bidet.
On February 7 at around 6:00 am, the sharp-witted officers of the National Gendarmerie conducted a third targeted operation in the village of Nkoloutou (10 kilometers from Ntui). During this operation, three individuals found in possession of 03 homemade 12-gauge firearms and about twenty ammunition were arrested.
The ongoing investigation at the Ntui Brigade with the aim of arraigning all these suspects continues.
In order to bring peace back to the entire country, Galaxy Etoga, the Secretary of State for Defense in charge of the Gendarmerie, continues to inspire and motivate his men.
