Burkina/Yatenga: a member of parliament provides food and fuel as support to the VDP
Ouahigouya, April 1, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – Member of the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) Youssouf Ouédraogo offered food and fuel to the local volunteer coordination for the defense of the homeland (VDP) in Ouahigouya on April 1, as observed by an Africa Links 24 journalist.
Considering the multifaceted needs of the troops in the field, MP Ouédraogo, with his own funds and the support of ALT President Dr. Ousmane Bougma, has shown solidarity towards the VDP. On this occasion, and awaiting other initiatives, ALT parliamentarian Ouédraogo disbursed 2 million CFA francs to acquire 50 bags of rice, 5 bags of salt, 50 cans of oil, 5 cartons of Nescafé, 5 cartons of tomato paste, 5 cartons of sugar, and fuel vouchers.
The donation ceremony took place in front of the Governor of the Northern region, Issouf Ouédraogo. MP Youssouf Ouédraogo expressed the importance of this initiative by highlighting that the town of Ouahigouya sometimes faces difficult moments due to insecurity.
Chief Warrant Officer Ki Dieudonné from the 12th Commando Infantry Regiment of Ouahigouya, representing the provincial coordinator of the VDP in Yatenga, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries for the MP’s gesture.
“We thank you for this initiative and hope that God blesses all those who always have a thought for those on the ground. This gesture encourages the fighters, and we are grateful for it,” he said on behalf of the beneficiaries.
For the donor, this gesture is just the beginning of a series of initiatives in support of the combat forces who constantly ensure the security of the populations in the town of Ouahigouya and its surroundings.
“The needs of the VDP are immense, and it is our duty to support them for a quick liberation of the municipal territories. I appeal to all the good-hearted people in the Northern region to mobilize tirelessly in their respective positions to support our combat forces. I hope that with the heroic work of our VDP in the field, our people will return to their villages before the start of the rainy season to carry out their activities peacefully,” said MP Youssouf Ouédraogo.
