Burkina Faso: “The true heroes of the Nation are the women,” Captain Traoré to the women of the green brigade

Ouagadougou, March 7, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – Captain Ibrahim Traoré paid tribute to women on Thursday, the “true heroes of the Nation,” some of whom have become IDPs and heads of households because they lost their children and husbands in the war imposed by terrorists.

“It is an opportunity for us to magnify them because we celebrate heroes every day, those who fall on the battlefield, but in reality, it is the women who are the true heroes,” said Captain Ibrahim Traoré in a report by RTB.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré visited the women of the green brigade to “pay tribute to them and through them, to all the women who are fighting here in Burkina Faso and all over Africa and around the world.”

This visit is part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

“Today, we are at war in Burkina Faso, so many women are Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs), heads of households because they have lost their children, their husbands. So, they have become heroes of this nation,” he emphasized.

For him, in the absence of their husbands and children who have gone to the front, they are the ones who endure what is happening at the back, who hold the entire family together.

“So, this is what we have come to convey to them as messages and through them, to all Burkinabe women who are heads of households, who fight every day. Those who are the first to wake up in the morning and the last to go to sleep at night,” he concluded.
