Burkina Faso: RéBuSE Advocates for the “Systematic” Implementation of Public Policy Evaluation in Administration
Ouagadougou, March 30, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Burkinabe Network for Monitoring and Evaluation (RéBuSE) advocated on Saturday in Ouagadougou for the “systematic” implementation of public policy evaluation in the Burkinabe administration, in order to impact the lives of the populations benefiting from various projects and programs.
Evaluation is essential in the implementation of public policies. It is a step in the implementation of public policies,” said the president of the Burkinabe Network for Monitoring and Evaluation (RéBuSE), Jean Stanislas Ouédraogo.
According to Mr. Ouédraogo, the culture of evaluation should accompany any activity, no matter how small, as it allows for errors to be corrected.
He made these remarks in Ouagadougou during a press briefing to share the contribution of his organization to strengthening evaluation capacities in Burkina Faso.
The objective of this press briefing was to also present the major actions carried out in the framework of strengthening evaluation capacities by RéBuSE, introduce the new executive committee of RéBuSE, and engage with the new president of the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA).
For Jean Stanislas Ouédraogo, the public administration must embrace the dynamic of evaluating the public policies being implemented.
“The intervention of RéBuSE is precisely to promote this practice, to make it systematic at the level of the public administration. Since resources are scarce, they must be used judiciously so that they can impact the lives of the populations.”
The president of the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), Miché Ouédraogo, advocates for an African culture of evaluating public policies in order to impact the lives of populations.
“We want an evaluation ‘made in Africa’, done by Africans, that draws inspiration from our endogenous practices and the knowledge of the continent,” Mr. Ouédraogo concluded.
