Burkina Faso: The new DG of the Input and Agropastoral Equipment Company commits to transparent management of public resources

Ouagadougou, April 18, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The new Director General (DG) of the Input and Agropastoral Equipment Company (SOBIMAP), Alassane Nikiema, pledged on Wednesday, following his installation, to ensure transparent and conscientious management of public resources to ensure the regular supply of the country with agricultural inputs and equipment, the Ministry of Agriculture’s communication services reported.

The new DG of the Input and Agropastoral Equipment Company (SOBIMAP), Alassane Nikiema, expressed his gratitude to the authorities of the Department in charge of Agriculture for the trust placed in him. While acknowledging the magnitude of the task entrusted to him, he committed to managing all allocated resources efficiently, effectively, transparently, and conscientiously, according to the Ministry of Agriculture’s communication services.

Appointed in the Council of Ministers on April 4, 2024, Mr. Nikiema was officially installed on Wednesday as the Director General of SOBIMAP by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries, Gaoussou Sanou.

To succeed in his mission, he requested the support of his superiors and all stakeholders in the rural sector.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries, Gaoussou Sanou, congratulated the Director General of SOBIMAP on his appointment and reminded him of the company’s missions.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring the regular supply of the country with agricultural inputs and equipment through their acquisition, management, and distribution.

Furthermore, Mr. Gaoussou Sanou urged the new Director General to leverage the experience he gained as head of the Central Procurement of Inputs and Agricultural Equipment (CAIMA) to ensure the proper functioning of SOBIMAP while distancing himself from the past practices that led to the dissolution of CAIMA.

As a reminder, the Council of Ministers in its meeting on March 20, 2024, decided to create a state company called the Burkina Faso Input and Agropastoral Equipment Company (SOBIMAP) to replace the Central Procurement of Inputs and Agricultural Equipment (CAIMA), which was dissolved on the same day. Among other things, this company is responsible for ensuring the availability of inputs and agricultural equipment in the national market in quantity and quality.
