Burkina Faso: Government Suspends Wheat Flour Importation to Cleanse the Market of Staple Products
The Burkinabe government has suspended the importation of wheat flour until further notice throughout the national territory in an effort to cleanse the market of staple products.
“The Ministry of Industrial Development, Trade, Handicrafts, and Small and Medium Enterprises informs economic operators that, as part of cleansing the market of staple products, the importation of wheat flour is suspended throughout the national territory until further notice,” a statement sent to the Africa Links 24 on Tuesday said.
“Therefore, as the importation of wheat flour is subject to a special import authorization (ASI), the issuance of ASIs for wheat flour is also suspended,” the same document added. Any violator of this decision will face sanctions in accordance with current regulations.
To report any cases of non-compliance with the terms of the document, the ministry has provided toll-free helplines for users. These include 80 00 11 84/ 85/ 66.
