Burkina Faso: Soon to Sign the Roadmap for the Construction of a Nuclear Power Plant
Ouagadougou, March 25, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Burkinabe Minister in charge of Energy, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, will soon sign in Sotchi (Russia) with ROSATOM, the roadmap for the construction of a nuclear power plant in his country, learned Africa Links 24 on Monday.
The Minister of Energy, Mines, and Quarries, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, leading a delegation, has been participating since the morning of Monday, March 25, 2024, in Sotchi, Russia, at the International Forum on nuclear energy ATOMEXPO 2024, according to his communication service.
According to the same source, during his two-day stay, the minister will sign with the Director General of ROSATOM, Alexey Likhachev, the roadmap for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso.
Before the roadmap, Burkina Faso and the Russian Federation signed on October 13, 2023, in Moscow, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
Earlier in July in Moscow, Burkinabe President Ibrahim Traoré told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about the importance for him to have a nuclear power plant as soon as possible, capable of meeting the energy needs of the sub-region.
