Burkina Faso/security: Slammer Otemptic urges Burkinabés to patriotism through her single
Ouagadougou, March 28, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – Burkinabè slam artist Adjaratou Kabré, also known as Otemptic, invites the people of Burkina Faso through her single “De toutes les couleurs” to patriotism in order to better fight against the terrorism that has been plaguing Burkina Faso for nearly 10 years.
She is unarmed. She is a lyricist and only has words to contribute to the fight against terrorism. “De toutes les couleurs” awakens consciences and prompts every Burkinabè to ask themselves questions.
“When I talk about colors here, I am referring more to the behavior of each Burkinabè, what behavior do we adopt in the face of the security situation. Being Burkinabè, being a patriot, are we observers, actors, or spectators of this situation,” questioned artist Otemptic to explain the meaning of her single.
The talented Otemptic is a student pursuing a master’s degree in conflict management and peacebuilding and is also a Disk Jockey (DJ). The phrase that sticks to her lips is “may peace truly return to Burkina Faso.”
She chose slam poetry in 2019 because in her opinion, “slam, beyond being a passion, is a tool for raising awareness.”
The justice-loving artist hopes to work in a humanitarian organization “because my greatest dream is to be useful to my community.”
The young musician with big ambitions has only one single on the market so far. The release of the music video “De toutes les couleurs” is scheduled for April 13 on YouTube. An album is almost ready and will be released on June 28, God willing.
