Burkina/Further control of territory: Ministry of Water and Forests intends to increase combat units from 3 to 13 in 2024
Ouagadougou, March 18, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Ministry of Water and Forests aims to create 10 new combat units in 2024, bringing the total number to 13 cantonments, in order to ensure territorial coverage in light of the results achieved by detachments of elements from the Water and Forest Corps positioned in strategic locations to protect forests, infrastructure, and contribute to the reconquest of the territory, according to the ministry’s communication services.
“In light of the tangible results on the ground and to strengthen the involvement of the Water and Forest Corps in the work of reclaiming the territory, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Sanitation through the Directorate General of Water and Forests intends to scale up with the creation of 10 new cantonments on the territory,” announced the Minister’s Chief of Staff, Ousmane Bawar.
A monitoring and supervision team from the Ministry of Environment visited and familiarized themselves with the realities within the detachments of elements from the Water and Forest Corps positioned in strategic locations to protect forests, infrastructure, and contribute to the reconquest of the territory.
Three operational water and forest cantonments in the theater of operations received a visit from the ministerial delegation.
