Burkina/Ramadan/Solidarity: an association offers food to 300 households

Ouagadougou, March 17, 2023 (Africa Links 24) – The Burkina Faso section of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulemas (FM6OA) offered food consisting of rice, pasta, and oil to 300 households on Sunday to show solidarity with the beneficiaries during the month of Ramadan.

“We are in the sacred month of Ramadan where mutual aid is recommended, and that is why the King of Morocco, His Highness Mohammed VI, ensures that we assist the needy and those engaged in Islamic work, such as preachers, teachers, muezzins, and others every year,” said the president of the Burkina Faso section of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulemas (FM6OA), Cheick Aboubacar Yugo.

Cheick Yugo spoke on Sunday at the food distribution event for the beneficiaries.

A total of 300 households were affected by the donation, which consisted of kits each containing “a bag of rice, a bag of macaroni, and a five-liter oil drum,” as recalled by the religious leader.

This donation is the fifth of its kind that King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Amir Al Mouminine, through the local section of the FM6OA, has provided to Burkinabe households during Ramadan.

For beneficiary Hadja Alimata Ouédraogo of the Union of Islamic Women of Burkina Faso, Kadiogo section, the received food will relieve and bring a breath of fresh air to the beneficiary families.

“We will distribute them to those who are especially needy and who lack the means to break their fast,” she noted.

Expressing her gratitude to the donor, Hadja Alimata Ouédraogo also prayed that the Lord would “allow them to renew this gesture every year and also increase the donation to reach more needy households.”

Cheick Aboubacar Yugo also expressed his wish to see the quantity of the donation increase for future editions, noting that due to insecurity, the number of vulnerable households has increased in Burkina Faso.

He also pointed out that beyond the expression of solidarity through the donation, the FM6OA, under the guidance of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, works to promote the Islam of “middle ground.”

“In recent times, Islam has been misunderstood, and some are engaging in violent extremism, which is why the foundation works to promote the Islam of the middle ground so that people can understand the religion correctly and live in peace with others in society in cohesion,” explained Cheick Yugo.
