Burkina Faso: Prime Minister Commits to Restoration of Bangr Wéogo Park

Ouagadougou, March 28, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla committed on Thursday to the restoration of the urban park Bangr Wéogo, a 240 ha ecological hub located in the heart of the Burkinabe capital, according to Africa Links 24 sources.

“Forest resources are vital for the health of our planet. On this World Forest Day, let us commit to protecting our forests, promoting sustainable management, and preserving biodiversity,” wrote Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla in the guest book of the Bangr Wéogo urban park in Ouagadougou after a visit.

According to a statement from the Ouagadougou city hall, the Prime Minister was accompanied by other authorities including the Minister in charge of Environment, Roger Baro, the Director of the President’s Special Delegation to the municipality of Ouagadougou, Clément Ouongo, and the Director General of Municipal Technical Services, Arzouma Nombré. During their visit, they explored various areas of the park including recreational spaces, the zoo, museum, documentation center, screening room, and the menagerie. At the end of the excursion, the authorities conducted a symbolic tree planting.

The Prime Minister and the attending authorities expressed their firm commitment to work in collaboration with the municipality and the Ministry of Environment to restore Bangr Wéogo Park.

“Let us together build a future where future generations can also enjoy the beauty and benefits of our forests,” mentioned Prime Minister Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla in the guest book.
