Burkina/Islam: 26 People, Including 12 Women, Complete the Reading of the Holy Quran in Djikofè

Ouagadougou, March 10, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Neymatoulahi association organized a ceremony for the reading of the Holy Quran in Djikofè, in the 11th district of the city of Ouagadougou, marking the end of several years of training for 26 learners, including 12 women.

The Neymatoulahi association in Djikofè is based in sector No. 47 in the 11th district of the city of Ouagadougou. On Sunday, March 10, 2024, they held a ceremony for the reading of the Holy Quran for 26 learners, including 12 girls, who have completed their training.

The event was under the spiritual authority of Sheikh and President of the Supreme Council of Scholars, Mahamadou Bandé, with the sponsorship of the CEO of the company MOUN-SARL, Ablassé Sawadogo.

The co-sponsor of the ceremony, Assami Bonkoungou, expressed his delight at the interest shown by women in reading the Holy Quran. Mr. Bonkoungou took the opportunity to encourage the Quranic teacher, Sheikh Issaka Ouédraogo, in his efforts to promote Islam.

“I encourage Sheikh Issaka Ouédraogo for initiating Islamic teachings for women so that they may know the Almighty,” he said, expressing his support for any initiative promoting Islamic education in Burkina Faso.

“What we seek today may be superficial, but we are all looking for the hereafter, and even the acts we do here are part of the afterlife,” he added.

Sheikh Ouédraogo, the Quranic teacher and president of the Neymatoulahi association, expressed joy that the learners had completed their training successfully.

He noted that the 26 learners, including 12 women, had spent at least five years with him learning the Quran, overcoming difficulties with divine assistance for a successful completion.

Today is a great day for us. We are very pleased. We have completed the Quranic learning, and it is a source of pride,” the guide rejoiced.

Zara Compaoré, one of the learners, stated that she had spent 7 years with her Quranic teacher, Sheikh Issaka Ouédraogo, and was satisfied to have acquired knowledge in Islam.

She congratulated Sheikh Ouédraogo for his dedication throughout their training. Adama Ouédraogo, another learner, expressed gratitude to God for allowing him to complete his learning after at least 3 years with his teacher.

The ceremony for the reading of the Holy Quran was sponsored by Bibata Tapsoba.
