Burkina Faso: Ibrahim Traoré announces a reduction in diplomatic personnel and budget cuts for students

Tenkodogo, March 8, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has announced a reduction in Burkina Faso’s diplomatic personnel abroad and the reallocation of budgets in certain ministries to build infrastructure for students.

The President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, plans to reduce the staff in Burkina Faso’s embassies abroad in order to redirect the money that would have been used for their upkeep towards building infrastructure for students.

“We have a lot of people in diplomatic missions, we spend a lot of billions. These billions will be used to build amphitheaters for students,” he said.

Likewise, budget cuts will be made in ministries, again for the benefit of students.

“I have informed the various ministries that we will be trimming budgets to build amphitheaters and classrooms for students. Everything that is cut from ministries will go to students,” he explained.

The transitional president, speaking on the occasion of the March 8, 2024 celebration, also announced other measures in various sectors.
