Burkina Faso Holds the 1st Edition of the Ziro Fruit Day in Sapouy, in the Presence of Minister Bazié

The first edition of the promotional day for Ziro fruits opened this Saturday in Sapouy, the capital of the Ziro province in the Center-West region. The event was attended by the State Minister in charge of Public Service, Bassolma Bazié, as reported by the minister’s communication department.

Under the theme of “production, marketing, and transformation of fruits in the context of the security crisis in the Ziro province”, this day serves as a platform to promote fruits and encourage producers and other stakeholders in the sector.

The State Minister of Public Service, Labor, and Social Protection, Bassolma Bazié, participated in the event to support fruit producers specifically. He also urged the population to support the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) so that by the end of 2024, terrorism will no longer be an issue in Burkina Faso and producers can work more peacefully in their fields and orchards.

The representative of the producers, Norbert Bassolé, stated that holding this promotional day in the midst of a security crisis is a testament to the resilience of Burkinabes. He highlighted challenges such as lack of market access for their produce, inadequate purchasing points, insufficient and poor quality agricultural inputs, lack of high-speed drilling, drying up of dams, and absence of fruit and vegetable processing plants as hindrances to fruit producers.

“We are convinced that if these difficulties are addressed, we can double or even triple our agricultural production,” he said.

The ceremony of this edition concluded with a visit to the fruit and vegetable exhibition stands.
