Burkina Faso: Technicians in Information and Communication Sciences Authorized to Access Communication Advisor and Journalist Positions (Council of Ministers)

Ouagadougou, March 7, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Council of Ministers authorized technicians in information and communication sciences on Wednesday to access Communication Advisor and Journalist positions through professional exams without the need for an academic degree.

The Council of Ministers adopted a decree on Wednesday amending decree No. 2021-0696/PRES/PM/MINEFID/MFPTPS of July 6, 2021, concerning the specific status of the “Communication, Culture, and Tourism” profession.

According to the minutes of the Council of Ministers presented by the Minister of State for Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, this amendment aims to ensure the right of state civil servants to promotion by allowing technicians in information and communication sciences to access Communication Advisor and Journalist positions through professional exams without the requirement of an academic degree.

The adoption of this decree enables the proper implementation of the provisions of the specific status of the “Communication, Culture, and Tourism” profession, as stated by the Minister of State.
