Ouagadougou, February 28, 2024. His Excellency Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, granted an audience on February 27, 2024 to the co-promoter of the International Languages and Literacy Salon in Ouagadougou.
This event, which is scheduled for the end of April 2024 for the first time according to Mr. Ali KOMI, aims to contribute to making languages a vector of integration and sovereignty, hence the theme “National Languages and Peoples’ Sovereignty”, with the proposed guest countries being Mali and Niger.
He came to seek the opinion and support of Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE so that the choice of the two countries is effective and that they will be present at the Ouagadougou meeting.
Given the interest and relevance of the event in the context of the Sahel Alliance, the Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs pre-congratulated the organizers.
For him, this initiative is one of the elements that allow giving substance to a political decision which is the creation of the Alliance of Sahelian States.
And choosing Mali and Niger as guest of honor is quite logical, as these countries, like Burkina, are in a dynamic of promoting and enhancing their national languages and endogenous values.
Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE therefore reassured the visitor that he would play his part so that the two brother countries are effectively present at this international language and literacy salon in Ouagadougou, as this is also how the Sahel Alliance will build pride internationally.
