Burkina, the guest of honor, is present in Niamey for the first edition of the National Digital Week
Ouagadougou, April 18, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – Burkina Faso, the guest of honor at the first edition of Niger’s digital week, is represented in Niamey by the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, Dr. Amina Sabane Zerbo.
Ms. Zerbo was received in audience this morning by the Nigerien Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani, along with her Malian counterpart, Alhamdou Ag Ilyène, and Nigerien counterpart, Sidi Mohamed Ralihou.
“This audience was an opportunity for us to convey the greetings of her counterparts, the Presidents of the transitions of Burkina Faso and Mali to the President of the CNSP, but also to convey the thanks of Captain Traoré for not only inviting Burkina Faso but also making it the guest of honor of this event,” said Ms. Zerbo after the audience, as reported by the Nigerien press Agency.
“The President also took this opportunity to remind us of a number of orientations for our action, which must always be guided by the concerns of our populations,” she continued.
As digital actors, “we are very honored by the place that our highest authorities give to our sector and also by the support they provide us so that we can fulfill our mission and effectively make digital a lever for socio-economic development in the service of our populations,” praised Dr. Amina Zerbo.
This first edition of the National Digital Week is taking place from April 18th to 20th under the theme “Digital and Sovereignty,” at the Mahatma Gandhi International Conference Center in Niamey. It is organized by the Nigerien Ministry of Communication, Posts and Digital Economy and “aims to further stimulate the private sector to effectively support government actions and to promote a digital industry that creates value in Niger,” explained the Nigerien press agency.
It is also an opportunity to popularize innovative digital uses for the productivity and competitiveness of important sectors of the national economy by improving agricultural performance, access and quality of healthcare, education and training, trade, and public services.
