“Fight against terrorism: the Republic of Turkey reiterates its support for Burkina Faso”

On the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, H.E. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, met with his Turkish counterpart, H.E. Hakan FIDAN.
During this meeting, Minister FIDAN reaffirmed his country’s support for the Burkinabe authorities in the fight against terrorism and for the affirmation of the country’s sovereignty.
He also praised the excellent relations between Burkina Faso and the Republic of Turkey, which was recently demonstrated by the holding of the third session of the Joint Cooperation Commission on January 16 and 17, 2024, in Ankara.
H.E. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, on his part, expressed the Burkinabe government’s gratitude to the Turkish authorities for their constant and sincere support to Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism. According to him, the victories achieved in this regard are also those of the Republic of Turkey.
Considering the achievements in cooperation between the two countries, the two ministers emphasized the need to strengthen it by expanding it to other areas for the benefit of the Burkinabe and Turkish populations.
It is also worth noting that the Burkinabe Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his stay in Antalya, met with Dr. Temel KOTIL, the CEO of the Turkish aerospace industry. They discussed military cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Cooperation in higher education was also on the agenda of Minister TRAORE’s meetings in Antalya. In this regard, he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, H.E. Tahin ERTUGRULOGLU. This meeting highlighted the prospects of granting scholarships to Burkinabe students.
In conclusion, the discussions and meetings during the Antalya Diplomatic Forum underscore the commitment of both Burkina Faso and Turkey to combatting terrorism and strengthening cooperation in various fields for the mutual benefit of their respective populations.
