Burkina: The Grand Chancellorship celebrates patriotism, citizenship, and national symbols
Ouagadougou, March 5, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Grand Chancellorship of Burkinabe Orders celebrated patriotism, citizenship, and national symbols in district number 2 of the commune of Ouagadougou on Monday, as reported by the Africa Links 24.
In a national context where security challenges are omnipresent, every citizen must cherish the symbols of the state and understand the meaning of decorations. It is in this sense that the Grand Chancellorship of Burkinabe Orders organized a flag-raising ceremony in District number 2 of the commune of Ouagadougou on Monday, March 4, 2024, according to the Government Information Service (SIG).
This initiative by the Communal Coordination of Rights and Civics in collaboration with District number 2 of the commune of Ouagadougou brought together a variety of participants.
For the president of the special delegation of District number 2, Wendouaoga Jonas Savadogo, this ceremony represents an affirmation of sovereignty and a strengthening of citizenship. “In the face of security challenges, this ceremony serves as a reminder to each individual of their citizenship duty towards the nation. This calls on Burkinabe people to reassess their behavior and engage in the fight against terrorism,” he added.
The students of Baoghin A School, who have been actively participating in this tradition since the previous year, are sensitized not only to republican values but also to the respect of state symbols.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Grand Chancellorship of Burkinabe Orders, Emmanuel Sorgho, as well as representatives of traditional, religious authorities, and students from the Institute of Technology (IST).
In parallel with the flag-raising ceremony, the Grand Chancellorship organized an exchange meeting with deputies, traditional and religious authorities, as well as students.
During this session, the Secretary-General of the Grand Chancellorship, Mr. Sorgho, gave a detailed presentation on the various symbols of the state and their meanings. He highlighted the importance of the national emblem, coat of arms, national anthem “Di-Taa-Niyè,” as well as the Burkina Faso motto, as fundamental elements of national identity and sense of belonging.
