Burkina/Agriculture: The government creates the Burkinabe Society for Inputs and Agropastoral Equipment, replacing CAIMA
Ouagadougou, March 20, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Burkinabe government created the State company called the Burkinabe Society for Inputs and Agropastoral Equipment (SOBIMA) on Wednesday, replacing the Central Procurement Agency for Agricultural Inputs and Equipment (CAIMA) dissolved on the same day.
“In replacement of CAIMA, the government adopted a fifth decree establishing a State company called the Burkinabe Society for Inputs and Agropastoral Equipment (SOBIMA),” said the Council of Ministers on this Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
According to the Minister in charge of Agriculture, Ismaël Sombié, this company is strategic for the government in terms of input supply and will be mainly funded by public capital.
Established in 2020, CAIMA’s main objective was to ensure the regular supply of the country with quality agricultural inputs and equipment at a competitive price for the benefit of producers.
The government stated that it dissolved CAIMA due to its operational difficulties.
