Burkina Faso: Major Terrorist Base Destroyed in Central-North, Terrorists Killed in Central-East
Ouagadougou, April 17, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Combating Forces have successfully neutralized several terrorists after intense fighting in the Central-North and Central-East regions in recent days, the Africa Links 24 learned on Wednesday.
Between April 15 and 17, 2024, the 8th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) conducted a monumental operation in the Central-North region, specifically in Guinbila, north of Barsalgho. In fact, the army had withdrawn from the locality five years ago, allowing terrorist groups to establish a large base there.
On April 17, 2024, at the entrance of the base, the patriots came under heavy enemy fire. This was followed by fierce combat before air support arrived. A targeted strike immediately hit a group of terrorists trying to flee with casualties and wounded individuals.
Other fleeing terrorists headed towards Taouremba, where they sought refuge under large trees to avoid the aerial vectors. Pilots, who had been tracking them for a while, neutralized them with missiles. The criminals and their logistics were engulfed in flames.
The remaining accomplices were neutralized by hunters armed with cannons. In addition to the Central-North operation, the troops achieved a remarkable feat on the morning of April 16, 2024, in the Sablogo area of the Koulpélogo province.
During a reconnaissance mission in the Kankanmogre forest near Sablogo, the men of the 11th BIR encountered the enemy. After an hour of intense fighting, the terrorists fled, leaving behind bodies and logistics.
