Burkina: 19 health facilities receive 30 million CFA francs for the care of indigent patients
Ouagadougou, April 17, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – A total of 19 health facilities benefited from a 30 million CFA franc subsidy from the National Fund for Solidarity and Social Resilience (FNS-RS) in 2023 for the care of indigent patients, learned from the Ministry responsible for solidarity and humanitarian action.
The patients are hospitalized in hospitals and are unable to pay for medical expenses. To assist these individuals in need, the FNS-RS provides subsidies to the country’s teaching hospitals, regional hospitals, and medical centers for the care of these patients, according to the communication services of the Ministry responsible for solidarity and humanitarian action.
According to the same source, 19 health facilities received this subsidy amounting to 30 million CFA francs in 2023.
The National Fund for Solidarity and Social Resilience (FNS-RS) is a state-owned social and humanitarian structure under the Ministry responsible for solidarity. Its mission is to contribute to the care and resilience of vulnerable or distressed individuals and social groups, as well as to finance humanitarian actions.
According to the Director General, Sami Nicolas Kambou, the government through the Ministry responsible for solidarity, has committed to always support vulnerable groups. The support provided to these patients, in his view, not only helps them recover their health but also contributes to improving their living conditions.
He therefore invited people of goodwill to support the FNS-RS in caring for vulnerable individuals.
